Western astrology
Astrofier calculates the geocentric apparent ecliptic longitudes of the Sun, Moon and planets: positions seen from Earth’s centre, expressed as angles along the ecliptic. The tropical zodiac begins at the vernal equinox and divides the circle into twelve equal signs.
The ascendant is where the ecliptic meets the eastern horizon at the selected place and time. MC is its upper intersection with the meridian. Houses can be shown as whole signs or as twelve equal houses measured from the ascendant. MC is marked separately and need not coincide with the start of the tenth house. Placidus houses are not included in this version.
The aspects are conjunction, sextile, square, trine and opposition. Their permitted deviations, or orbs, are 8°, 4°, 6°, 6° and 8°, respectively. These are explicit methodological choices rather than natural boundaries. Retrograde means that geocentric longitude is decreasing around the birth moment.
Indian astrology · Jyotish
The sidereal view uses True Chitrapaksha: Spica is placed at 180° in the sidereal zodiac. The difference from the tropical starting point is called ayanamsa and is calculated for the birth moment. Comparisons with another chart need the same ayanamsa; True Chitrapaksha and Lahiri are different settings.
Spica’s J2000 coordinates and proper motion come from SIMBAD/Hipparcos. Its direction is propagated in the J2000 system before the same apparent transformation used for the planets. The Moon’s nakshatra is one of 27 equal fields of 13°20′; each has four quarters, or pada, of 3°20′. Classification happens before rounding.
The view shows rāśi (sign), lagna (ascendant), whole-sign houses, nakshatra and pada. Its main table contains the seven classical celestial bodies. Rahu/Ketu, dasha periods, divisional charts and a complete Ashtakoota system are not included.
Chinese astrology · calendar and BaZi
The calendar’s year animal and heavenly stem change at Chinese New Year. BaZi, the Four Pillars, uses a different boundary here: the year pillar changes at the solar term Li Chun, and the month pillar at the twelve jie boundaries. A person can therefore have different year animals in these two systems in late January or early February.
The calculation library expresses solar terms in UTC+8. The birth moment is converted to that time for the year and month pillars and the Chinese calendar date. Day and hour pillars instead use the birth place’s local civil time. The day changes at midnight (sect 2); the hour stem follows the library’s Zi convention, using the next day’s stem from 23:00. This is a stated methodological choice. True local solar time is not used.
Tradition describes wood, fire, earth, metal and water as five phases. Each pillar shows its stem and animal. Comparisons use corresponding pillar types: year with year, month with month, day with day, and hour with hour when both times are known. Different pillar types are not cross-compared. Two bounded pair rules are used: Liu He, the six combinations, and Liu Chong, the six oppositions. They do not determine a relationship’s outcome. Visible stems per phase are counted separately, without hidden stems, seasonal strength or element transformation.
Time, place and accuracy
The place directory uses GeoNames cities15000, with more than 34,000 places and IANA time zones. It does not include every smaller birth place. If a place is missing, enter its coordinates and correct IANA time zone under Advanced options. Check the coordinates when possible.
Birth dates and local times are converted using the time zone’s historical rules. A local time that did not exist during a clock change is rejected. If a time occurred twice, the earlier or later occurrence must be chosen. Older local time rules can be uncertain; the app supports dates from 1800 to 2100.
Planetary calculations use Astronomy Engine 2.1.19, whose documented accuracy is approximately one arcminute. Results appear in degrees and whole arcminutes, without claiming established accuracy to the second. Uncertainty in the actual birth time may matter more than calculation accuracy.
Unknown birth time: local noon is used only as a labelled reference for planetary positions. The ascendant, houses and hour pillar are omitted. The Moon’s range across the local day is shown. Calendar and solar-term boundaries are checked across the day, and a crossing is marked.
Symbolic interpretation and comparing people
Positions can be calculated and compared. The personal texts are Astrofier’s modern symbolic reading and its own questions for reflection. Historical motifs are linked to named works and specific passages in the deeper reading. They are not psychological measurements, medical assessments or certain predictions.
A comparison shows actual angular distances between the charts. Jyotish shows sidereal placements and the Moon’s nakshatra and pada. BaZi shows calendar profiles and corresponding pillar types. The Maya perspective shows calendar cycles, without personality scores. Astrofier does not convert this information into a percentage chance that a relationship will succeed.
System selection shapes both the combined summary and the report’s evidence. Each theme appears once, with the separate perspectives available in depth. The thematic grouping and questions are Astrofier’s modern synthesis. Relationship, friendship and working together use different questions without changing chart positions or aspect rules. Each aspect belongs to only one theme. If a birth time is unknown, that person’s Moon aspects are excluded from the main findings.
Use the other person’s details with their knowledge. A chart can suggest topics for conversation; it cannot decide whom someone should live with or replace what is actually known about the relationship.
Privacy, software and sources
Calculations run in the browser. Raw names, birth dates, times and places are neither sent in report requests nor added to the URL. Only when you request a member report are derived chart positions, selected calendar fields and methodological choices sent to the account service. The report function stores neither those inputs nor the report. Cookieless Matomo statistics measure page views on the public home page. IP addresses are shortened before storage. Names, birth details, chart positions, report content, search text and URL parameters are not sent to Matomo. Measurement respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Account, chart and report views are not measured. Choosing Save profile stores the details locally on your device; you can export and delete them here. Ordinary hosting access logs may still contain information such as IP addresses.

Your local Gregorian date is placed in Tzolk’in, Haab and the Long Count. Conversion uses the GMT correlation 584283 and civil midnight as the date boundary. This is a stated calculation convention; it does not establish personal meanings or the ritual day boundaries of a living tradition.
Person comparison shows calendar similarities and differences, without personality or compatibility scores. Maya calendars are kept distinct from Nahua tonalpohualli and modern Dreamspell.
Mahabote · a modern Burmese profile
The house is calculated from the Myanmar solar year and civil weekday. These house names are distinct from Western birth-chart houses. Astrofier’s own conversation themes are separate from the calculation. Shared or different houses give no relationship rating.
The supported dates are 1900–2099, with civil midnight as the day boundary. Sunrise days, a Wednesday split and transits are not included. Two people’s houses appear independently; a shared house is no compatibility rule, and different houses are no conflict rule.
